For a good fit a bracelet should be comfortable on your wrist and should not fall too much from your wrist when you put your hand down and shake. It should certainly not fall off. The fitting size of a bracelet is the measure of the internal circumference and provided the largest measure given is larger than the circumference of the finest part of your wrist then the bracelet will fit you. Provided the smallest measure specified is smaller than the largest part of your hand then the bracelet will not fall off. You can check by wrapping a tape measure around your hand until it meets and note the length. In general our adult womens bracelets are made to fit wrists with circumferences between 150 and 190 mm.
There are a variety of ways to make bracelets and as result various ways to specify the size.
- A button and hole. If there is only one hole then the size of the bracelet is fixed and there is only one size. The fitting size we specify is the internal circumference and provided that dimension is big enough to go comfortably round the finest part of your wrist then it will fit you. If it is little larger than the finest part of your wrist the bracelet will drop a little further onto your hand but will still look good. Of course if it is much bigger than your wrist there is a chance that whenever you drop your hand the bracelet will fall off. In this case the bracelet is too big for you. You can check by wrapping a tape measure around your hand until it meets and note the length. If the biggest part of your hand is smaller than the bracelet then it will fall off. If there are two holes then you can use either the first or the second and in that case the anklet has two fitting sizes and we will specify both.
- Slip knot to close. Some bracelets are designed with a slip knot closure. This allows the size to be adjusted to any size between the fully extended and the fully closed. For this type of bracelet we specify the internal circumference when the bracelet is fully extended and when it is fully closed. Provided it will go over your hand when fully extended it is most likely that it will ‘fit’ you and it can then be adjusted to sit in various positions on your wrist. If the smallest internal circumference given is larger than the largest part of your hand the bracelet will fall off. You can check by wrapping a tape measure around your hand until it meets and note the length. If the biggest part of your hand is smaller than the bracelet at its smallest then it will fall off.
- Lobster and O-ring. This design of anklet has only one size and it is fixed. We specify the internal circumference when the bracelet is closed and provided this is sufficient to go round the finest part of your wrist then the bracelet will fit you. Even if the measurement we specify is larger than the finest part of your wrist it is most likely the bracelet will still fit you it will just sit lower on your wrist. If the internal circumference of the bracelet is larger than the largest part of your hand the bracelet will fall off. You can check by wrapping a tape measure around your hand until it meets and note the length. If the biggest part of your hand is smaller than the bracelet then it will fall off.
- Lobster, O-ring and extension chain. This design of bracelet can be adjusted and the size varies between that when the lobster is attached to the O-ring and that when it is attached at the very end of the extension chain. We specify the two internal circumferences and provided the largest is sufficient to go round the finest part of your wrist then the bracelet will fit you. Provided that the smallest is larger than the biggest part of your hand it will not
- Elastic. If the bracelet consists of beads then it may be that they are threaded on elastic. The bracelet will stretch to go over your hand and when relaxed will fit comfortably on your wrist. The measurements we specify are the internal circumference when the elastic is relaxed and when it is slightly stretched.
